tis the season (ahhh-choo)

Oh man, we are just plain sick of being sick over here. But I think we're on the mend (knock on wood, and I mean a humongous piece of wood, maybe an entire log cabin). Porter has been fighting this crud on and off for the past four weeks and we are just ready to feel great again. Or good. I'll take good too. It's been rough, but several things have helped us tremendously along the way ...

  • Steam Baths just before bed
  • Eucalyptus Oil (diffuse just a couple of drops for 10 minutes before bed)
    • we have this diffuser and love it
    • we only use 1-2 drops of eucalyptus as it is very strong and some recommend to avoid this oil until your child is two years of age. Use with caution.
  • NoseFrida (4-5 times daily)
  • Salene for nose (before and/or after NoseFrida)
  • BabyRub (rub on feet, back, chest and neck)
    • this is a non-medicated formula and contains aloe, eucalyptus, rosemary and lavender, it's great for those of us who are too lazy to make an essential oil concoction (that would be like cooking for me, scary)
  • Cool Mist Humidifier
  • Honey (I give P honey mixed in yogurt every morning)
  • Pineapple (natural decongestant)
  • Cinnamon (helps with congestion and achy muscles, I mix with applesauce and he loves it)
  • Warm milk and/or water
  • Baby Chiropractor (we have been taking Porter once a week when he's sick, once every other month when he is well)
  • Lots of hugs and kisses
  • Wine for mama
  • Beer for dad
  • Treats for big brother Sherman (I don't know why, because he's Sherman)
