easy peasy apple crisp

Okay, okay, so this wasn't exactly "easy peasy" for me. I think I said three bad words when all of my chopped apples went rolling from the counter to the dirty floor and one bad word when I forgot about the butter in the microwave. However, I think most would agree that this is a pretty simple recipe for most people out there. And when I get more than one request to do something, I do it. No questions asked. So for those of you who wanted this recipe ... here you go. If you make it, please refrain from telling me just how easy peasy it was for you. I am still over here pretending like I created a masterpiece.

Ingredients:
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter (melted)
3 cups apples (peeled and chopped)
1/2 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 and lightly grease 8-inch square pan. Mix together oats, brown sugar, flour and melted butter in large bowl. Place half of oat mixture in pan. Spread apples evenly over mixture and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Top with remaining oat mixture and a final sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar. Bake in oven for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown.

  1. Our local apple orchard has THE BEST apples, but I just can't remember the name of them-- they're not your typical red delicious. I'll have to save this recipe when we go apple picking. Thanks!!

    1. Hi Svenja! Yes it is the same as apple crumble. We just say "crisp" here in the US, we're weird like that. :)

  7. We have an apple tree in the back yard now. Provided Gunner doesn't eat all the apples straight off the tree (I wish I were only kidding about this), we may just have to check this out!
