a little happy

I just found these photos today, which were taken a few weeks back. I'm pretty sure this is the moment I told Sherman that he's going to be a big brother. He looks pretty excited, don't ya think?

So I've been hiding. From blog feeds and facebook and the news. From sad posts and devastating stories about the Oklahoma tornado. I'm all for supporting and loving and caring for others, but my overly hormonal self just can't risk hearing any more about those sweet, innocent kids and pets and the wonderful lives that were lost. And although I may not be reading the stories quite yet, I am praying for the people. And giving to the organizations.

And I'm also spending some extra fun time with Dan and the Sherm Dog. Because it was is a gorgeous 70 degree day here in Kansas and there is so much to be grateful for.

And I'm reading amazing stories like this one.

And looking at funny things like this.

And those are just a few things that have given me a little happy today.

  3. Ah - I posted a whole comment and Blogger ate it for some reason.

Essentially, what I said is that I am totally with you in that sometimes I just try to avoid getting too much into reading articles/watching the news about stories that really get to me like this one. I couldn't even imagine.

I did see an incredible video posted on Facebook about an elderly woman who was being interviewed about the storm. She mentioned that she lost her dog, and a couple minutes in, someone saw movement in the rubble and it was her dog. He/she was completely unharmed and the moment was beyond heartwarming. I couldn't help but get emotional watching it, and had to repeat it a couple of times.

  4. Ohhh, congratulations!
    You look fab!!!

I am so sorry for not checking up on your blog earlier, I truly - obviously - missed some big news here :)

    And your trousers are awesome!!!

We also got the terrible news of the tornado over here and everyone is in grief. My prayers are with the victims and their families.

Have a happy week! (Because it won't help anyone if we don't, right?)

  7. I have a hard time reading those stories too, even if I'm not pregnant. And sometimes it isn't necessary to vicariously live the heartache, it's enough to know it happened, take action, and move forward in love.

Sherman is going to win big brother of the decade. I can feel it.

  8. I have read a LOT of blog post lately about the tornado and this is my favorite. And you barely even wrote anything! ha!! But everyone is going on and on about all the sad stuff and yes, it is sad, no doubt. But let's concentrate on all the good things!! If everyone did that, can you imagine what this world would be like?! Wow. Love your heart and every one of your posts!

  12. I know what you mean. I stumbled upon a video from a teacher. I cried. And immediately got pissed for watching it knowing how it would make me feel. I pray and thank about all those people everyday.

That belly of yours is cute! And I think Sherm looks happy :)

  14. I have one of those personalities that tend to dwell on things so I've had to learn over the years to just step away from the news and media. It's not that I don't care, it's just that I let it wear me down. Such tragedy and sadness & the only thing we can do is just pray for all those affected!

  15. Yes, do yourself a favor and stay clear of bad stuff like that right now - not good for your baby or you to have any negative feelings right now, we all know what a kind hearted and loving person you are but I would not watch any news at all right now. Right now needs to be all about happy thoughts :) Hugs!

  18. Well its been a while since I've been here and I now realize that because you have a baby bump, and you didn't have one last time I was here! CONGRATS, you'll love being a mamma. I totally understand you wanting to avoid the sad news of the Tornado, my precious girl was born on September 11, 2001...I remember watching the news for like 5 minutes, turning the tv off and just pretending that it didn't exist, it was far too much for a new mamma to deal with.
