guess who has the dog

So the picture above is of our neighbor's yard.
Pretty huh?
A few cute little bunny tracks and a shadow or two.
But other than that, pure snowy perfection.
And this ...
this right here is our yard.
I'll give you one guess who has the dog.

So after I mentioned yesterday that I would be blogging about snow again ... so many of you commented and said how excited you were. And how much you love seeing pictures of snow. In March. Actually, none of you said this. What's up with that? So yes, we had another big snow storm hit us here in Kansas City late last week. Winter Storm Rocky was it's name. And destruction was it's game. Winter Storm Rocky was our second thundersnow in one week and put down another 10 inches on top of what we already had from the first storm. I was in heaven. And Dan was in his ski clothes ... removing trees from our roof and vehicles and patio furniture. I win.
We had a few power outages in our city.
Shocking.
I promise ... no more posts about snow.
I promise ... unless it snows again.

  1. We still have plenty of snow, too. And our yard looks worse than yours. We have three dogs occupying it. We still have to get around to picking up the poop :)

  2. haha. I can't quit laughing!! There were so many funny things about this post: 1) The yard. That is crazy! 2) You saying that you win because you were in heave and ... oh yeah, the last part too! Love your writing style! You always make me laugh.

  3. WOW! I can't believe Sherm seriously destroyed the "perfection" of the fresh snow like that. Clearly, I have small dogs.

Also, as beautiful as your photos are, I do NOT envy that storm. We're getting above freezing here this week and I'm much more excited about that ;)

  4. As much as I miss snow sometimes (it tends to only rain where I live) I only like it in December, January, and February! Come March, it needs to warm up! Hopefully you'll have some sunny weather soon :)

Oh, and btw, I do enjoy looking at other people's pictures of snow!

  5. I don't mind pictures of snow as long as they are pretty pictures like you take! Even the pics of your destroyed yard and broken trees are good. That means you're a good photographer! :)

  6. Oh that picture of Sherm laying smack dab in the middle of his mess, trying to pretend like he did nothing wrong. :) So cute!!

  8. I greatly dislike snow.

But I greatly do not dislike you. I greatly do not dislike Sherm or Dan-the-do-everything-man.

    Nothin' but love.

  9. Your poor, poor patio furniture. And poor, poor you... this is really going to push your frugalness.

Sherman is such an adorable little sherpa. If I didn't know better, I would think he was part St Bernard for how much he loves the snow.

  10. Yuck to the snow!!! I'm sooo sick of it! I hope ours melts quick!!

  11. Wowza. That is a lot of snow!! And a lot of broken branches! So funny about your yard ... those two pictures side by side are crazy. So different! Totally what our dog would do too. Love that last picture of the tree branches. Gorgeous!

  12. Wow! SO much snow! It's beautiful though!

  13. Love that shot of Sherman helping by standing guard over the ladder!!! You're a brilliant writer and photographer too...then there's poor Dan..the snow fixer :) Have a great day! Love to see that snow!!!

  14. ha ha, I love those 'guess who has the dog' photos! Hilarious.
Although I love snow, I'd like it to go away. Please. Yesterday we had a taste of spring over here: The sun came out to play and tried to chase those snow rests away (did not happen entirely) and I was able to do my running workout in 3/4 tights and in a T-shirt. Day made!

    Have a beautiful day!

  19. I'm surprised STL didn't get hit bad by this snow storm. But, I'm also glad. Because driving to work in that crap sucks.

I do enjoy your pictures, though :)

  22. Beautiful! That storm is at my house today (Wash, DC suburbs). Because everything in this area has to take on a political slant, our storm is called Snowquester....

  23. Even though it's March, I still love the snow pictures!!! =)

  26. This kinda reminds me of the winter I had in 2010 where we ended up with a grand total of 22 feet of snow. No, that was not a typo. We had 22 FEET of snow that winter. In 2011, I moved to Florida. Coincidence? You decide.

  27. We had this exact discussion/comparison many times in England. Our snow was always torn up and dug through and half-eaten by Max... and the other houses had these beautiful blankets of white, lofty smoothness.

But then, watching the dogs play in the snow was totally worth it. Every single time.

  28. I live 2 hrs south of you guys and we were hit with both snow storms, just less snow. But I didn't realize how much less snow until Saturday when we drove up to KC. CRAZY!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Soooo pretty!!! And love your writing style!

    ReplyDelete
  30. haha. Love that comparison! We definitely did not have a snowy winter. I'm with you though ... snow is awesome! Well, until I have to drive in it. :) Love that last pic!

  31. I'm totally into the snow posts! Because honestly, I hardly ever see it so I DO like seeing pictures of snow in march :)

  32. I'm happy I'm not the only blogger still buried in snow. And I can totally relate to the mangled snow yard; thanks to our dog, our yard is a hot mess of crazy snow piles and tracks. And we're supposed to get another 6 inches or so in the next day or two; I'm hoping the weather man is lying...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Our yard looks eerily similar to yours and a Family Circus scene. The snow is very pretty but I'm over it and ready to leave and put on some sandals.

  34. Such gorgeous photos! Snow can be so beautiful! So funny comparing your yard to your neighbor's yard hahaha

  36. Do you know how much snow cream you could make with this? Kids would love you. Well except dont get the stuff Sherm hiked in.

  37. You're funny. I love the yard comparison. Made me laugh.

I saw no snow this year. zero, zilch, nada. It kind of makes me sad, so I'm happy to look at your pictures of a white winter wonderland anytime!

  38. Beautiful pictures! But I struggle with snow in mid-March...snow is falling here in Germany as I type this and I am not thrilled. I just want the beach!!

  39. Oh dear. And I thought it was bad where I live!! You certainly do win, in that department, although I am sure it is not a prize you want: MORE SNOW!!!
