how the lab stole Christmas

And that just about does it for our Christmas decorations this year. We used to put our big, beautiful tree up in front of that window you see there. And then we got Sherman. And Sherman kind of got that spot. So, the Christmas tree got nixed again this year. Sherman: 2; Christmas tree: 0.

And that, my friends, is how the lab stole Christmas.

  1. Haha I love it. The sacrifices we make for our pets. :)

  2. I have a shorter tree and I plan on sticking it on a table. I hope that the shih tzu's don't steal Christmas.

  4. Do not worry my friend, I have Bichon paraphernalia all over our place, and if its not that, its my husband griping on me for brushing the dogs.
Some people say I'm crazy about my dogs, I say it's love ;)

  5. One tip I've heard is that after a puppy outgrows the X-pen, you put it around the tree! My mom used that tactic for toddlers and playpens as well...
We've always had more trouble with cats scaling/tipping over Christmas trees than with our dogs. But then, neither of our dogs has seen the couch as wild prey, either!

Poor Sherm. He just wants to be festive.

  6. My cat likes to nibble the pine needles on the tree. Luckily, that's the worst damage he's done so far. I'd say you and Dan have plenty of decorations, even if you don't have a tree!

  8. I love the lights at the front of your house, it looks so warm and inviting. You'll just have to add the tinsel to
Sherman if you can't have a tree.

  9. Are you KIDDING me? You don't put up a tree?! Do you know how much Sherman would love chewing off the ornaments? It's Har's favorite time of year.

  10. I like it! Simple and beautiful. Maybe Sherman can make up for the tree thing by wearing a Santa hat or something... :)

  11. I like this idea.Less stuff to pack up and drag to the storage closet. Our Christmas decorating was a perfect FrankenHoliday mess.

  15. Sherman makes for a gorgeous tree.

I've always been super impressed with Sammy. If you didn't know, we let him roam free while we're gone, and he never gets into anything. Even now with all the Christmas stuff up, he doesn't get into it. Granted he's had a couple mishaps, but for the most part, he's pretty awesome. ;)

  18. I also have to add that up until this past year, we used to put the tree up and then build a fence AROUND the tree so the dogs wouldn't get up in it??! It was like a zoo exhibit, cordoned off for the animals to not touch. lol.

This year we opted for buying a small table tree, which is cuter in my opinion anyways, and puppies are happiness because it doesn't encroach on their floor space. :) hAPPY Dogs = happy mom and dad
