the day we found gold

Actually, I should say "the day Dan found gold".
I don't really participate in any of husband's hobbies. I just take pictures.
And speaking of hobbies ... I had completely forgotten about this one until we were packing up the truck to head out to Colorado and Dan walked out of the house carrying his gold pan. And I went "omg I forgot about that one" (and I never say "omg"). Dan is very interested in "treasure hunting" as he likes to call it. He loves metal detectors. Oh and he watches shows about meterorite hunting.

Someday Dan ... someday you will make me a very rich woman.
Right?
There is just nothing quite like a man in waders.
Oh and he fly fishes too.
That's why he owns waders.
Just a boy and his pan.
And a few gorgeous mountains.
I think this means we struck gold.
Go grab yourself a magnifying glass.
Come back.
And tell me that's not real live gold.

  4. I've always wanted to do this, but it looks like a lot of work for baby pebbles of gold. Maybe I'll just leave it up to Dan. Love these pictures. Oh, and see you TOMORROW. :D

  5. You and Dan were just made for CO. Really, I don't know why you haven't put the house up for sale yet and started the big move. You guys enjoy all of the iconically CO activities.

  8. Can he bring his medal detector over to my house? One of my cats lost his collar in my yard and I can't find it. I don't feel like having his tags made again...

And he has to wear his waders. And you have to come and take pictures. And hang out with me.

This sounds like a great idea.

  15. I laughed when I read this, because my husband has a very close friend who legit asked for a metal detector on their wedding register - he got it! So now, he brings it to the beach every time we go with them, and he and my husband disappear into a detecting trance. My friend Laura and I made fun of them...until they found this ridiculously tacky Mr. T ring on the beach one day. What we thought was tacky anyway - ended up being worth around $300 for the gold, and bought us a nice dinner out anyway :) Set your eyes upon Mr. T rings. That is my point. Except...98% of the time, they just find pennies and condom wrappers.

  20. Before we talk about his gold digging, which I've always wanted to do, can we talk about how incredible your photography is? Because it's amazing. Now that I've fed your ego, tell your other half that I'd be happy to participate in gold digging any day, only partially because I want to get rich and mostly because it looks like fun :)
