my sister, my best friend

My love for "pants without a zipper" has not changed.
Big sis.
I am thinking about you today, as I do every day. But today is special because today is your birthday. I wasn't around when you were born, but I can only imagine what a great day that was. You are the kindest, sweetest, most generous person I know. You are the best mom. The best wife. The best daughter (even better than yours truly). The best sister. And my best friend.
I've been missing you a whole lot lately.
We lived together for so many years. We shared clothes (ok, we still do). We shared bedrooms. We shared music. We shared friends. We shared everything. And then ... one morning we woke up and the two little girls who shared so many years together, under the same roof as sisters, are now married. Living under different roofs; in different cities. One with a baby; one with a dog. When did all that happen? It's bittersweet. I miss the old days. And yet I wouldn't trade the memories we've made in the last several years for anything.

Thank you for those memories.
Thank you for always being that one person I can turn to.
Thank you for everything you've done for me.
I love you so very much.
Happy Birthday to you, big sis.

P.S. I have good news and bad news. The bad news is this does count as your birthday card because CVS wouldn't let me bring Sherman in to the store to buy a card on our walk the other day. The good news is we saved $4.75 by putting your birthday card on my blog instead of buying one and mailing it all the way to Chicago. A very happy {birth}day indeed.

  2. You are ridiculous, the whole P.S. part.

But this is beautiful, it almost makes me think I need a sister. And by almost I mean not really.

  4. You are such a sweetheart, Teej! Happy Birthday to your beautiful sister! I've always wanted a sister myself. Instead I have a snot-nosed bratty little brother that I adore. I always wished I could experience that bond only sisters share. Must be pretty awesome! ;)

  10. Oh my goodness!!!! I can't even begin to describe how cute this is. :) I love it. Me and my older sister have that type of relationship too. Except at the moment we aren't married and living in different cities. We're still together but we're getting older.

  17. This is SO much better than a card- plus then your sister gets a bunch of FB-like "Happy birthday" comments from all us readers :)

  19. Ohh this is so lovely! What a sweet sister you are;) Also you've been economical by not sending a card. You have just saved part of a tree!
I always wanted a sister instead of a brother (no offence to him, I like him every now and then lately). I do actually have a half sister but that's a long story!
Happy birthday to your sister and I hope she had a great day!

  25. I love seeing all of these baby pictures! It's like looking at my own because I remember them so well. I love both of you girls for such sweet memories. AND Happy Birthday Jenny! Yes, I still remember your birthday every October too. ;) It's so beautiful you girls share such a close friendship. I remember Jenny when you would let Tif and I play with you and your friends and how COOL we felt hanging out with big middle schoolers! Remember when we went through the woods late one Friday night with flashlights one behind the other all linked together scared to death something was going to eat us...then your dad would jump out and scare the crap out of us and we'd all go running and screaming to the house? OK, we probably did that every Friday night, not just one. But what a fun memory! All because you loved your little sister so much you let her play too.:)
