life in tiny pictures + a little happiness

    @thejcoffeehouse
  • I dare you to try this.
  • I accidentally went to Target.
  • An old photo button I found. My poor parents had to wear these to all of my VB games (sorry mom; sorry dad).
  • Simple wine labels. My new obsession.
  • The eldest nephew {Kemper} and I.
  • Pumpkins from Target. No orange though. I don’t like orange pumpkins. True story.
  • Husband zip lining. At least one of us had an exciting weekend.
So Dan went missing this last weekend.
Which means three things.

One … I ate hot pockets for three meals; soup from a can for two meals; and some lettuce with a little dressing for my last meal. Oh and potato chips.
And wine.

Two … I went shopping. No, not clothes shopping. You all know me better than that. I went home decor shopping. I went Target shopping. It’s amazing how just a couple of pumpkins, a new decorative pillow and a wooden vase can make you want to clean and organize your entire house.

Or is that just me?
My dream pillow.
Why? Because it had about six of those little red clearance stickers on it. Those little red stickers make my world go 'round. Remember our old pillow? Dan thought it was too “girly”. So I tossed that little girly pillow in the guest bedroom and found this little gem for … wait for it … $5. Marked down from $45. So the question now is, what the heck is wrong with this pillow?
And that old vase that used to be here in the guest room … I tossed that in the master bedroom. It’s gettin’ crazy in the Jones household. Crazy changes I tell ya.

Oh and number three (which I already mentioned) ... I cleaned. And I mean I cleaned. At one point I was cleaning my cleaning supplies. And that's when you know ... it is time to put down the Clorox and walk away. But I feel like a new woman. Last week I was in a funk like you wouldn't believe. And I could not figure it out. Well guess what? I figured it out. I had a dirty house.
Dirty house = funk.
In conclusion, my little husbandless weekend brought me a whole lot of happiness. Sorry Dan, I love ya, but it sure was nice {and clean} around here.
And speaking of happiness, yesterday I spent way too much time going through a bunch of my "old" things. My favorite find (other than my photo button of course) was this little happiness card, which I found stuck between two pages of one of my many journals (and no, you do not get to read my journals). Attached to this little note was an old, glue-stained poster board piled high with faded magazine pictures. Pictures of things that made me happy. Pictures of things I knew I wanted (hello chocolate lab). Some goals; some dreams; some visions.
Some call this a vision board. Some call this Pinterest.
I call it my “happy board”.

So what's on my happy board right now?
This.
And I'll tell you why tomorrow (I love doing that).

  12. There is nothing like a good shopping spree at Target and a clean house. My husband was gone all weekend as well and our house is now sparkling clean. I was also in a miserable mood all last week, but having some alone time spent cleaning and organizing put me back on track :o)

Love the Target finds and love that it was so cheap. The answer to your question.. nothing. nothing is wrong with that pillow and it is not girly at all so you better not here it from dan! And i love your meal sitch.. cuz that's totally how i would eat too if I were husbandless for a few days.

  20. Holy cleaning! You can come clean my house anytime. I sure am sorry about the food thing, though. If I were you and I didn't cook (what a strange alternate reality we'd be living in) I would make husband freeze me food so that I wasn't eating hot pockets for 3 days, but gourmet goodness instead. Glad you enjoyed your husband-less-ness.
