about that thing called august

It’s July.
Just thought you all should know that.

But really, it’s July. Which means next month is August.
Oh August. I am really not a big fan. Why?
For one, it's going to get even hotter (106 is just not hot enough). Not to mention, it's the busiest month of the year at work for me. But don’t worry, I’ll still be here. I just have to plan a little more than I would normally. So, guess what I’ll be “planning”. A two week home tour (with some Sherman thrown in the mix I'm sure). Don’t you guys want to know where I eat, where Sherm sleeps, and where husband cooks? So, here’s the deal. We bought our humble little home back in 2007. It was a piece of crap. Since 2007 we’ve made about 719 trips to Lowes and 925 trips to The Home Depot.
This has caused sweat by husband, blood by husband ...
and tears by me.

Have I convinced you yet that you want to see this? Awesome. Because you get to. Because I will be working from sun up to sun down almost every day for a couple of weeks in August. Trust me, this will be much more exciting than me blabbering on and on about how I want to quit my job.

The home tour (to include before/after pictures) will begin August 13th.
Get excited.
Or maybe get another blog to follow.
Kidding. Stay. Please stay.

Oh and I almost forgot (that's a lie) ...
I’m over HERE today giving a little home improvement sneak peek.
Not to mention, I’m giving away a couple of items for free, which rarely happens.
While giving is fun; I sure do love to receive.

But, I promised you guys HERE that I would do two things:
Donate money to the petco foundation and sponsor amazing blogs. So, I decided to sponsor one blog and try to buy me some extra followers. I'm kidding. I've sponsored more than one blog and all you have to do is leave a comment. So go check it out ... go leave a comment and win. I dare you.

P.S. When you read this, there is a very good chance that I will still be sleeping. I am getting so big. Sleeping until 8am now. It's a long story ...

  1. I'm pretty excited to see this home tour of yours. I hope we'll get to see some of the blood and tears too in the photos. (Not the sweat, because that's gross.) Also, in August is when I begin sponsoring your blog. That means your August just got a WHOLE lot better... right?! :)

  2. Try living in England with constant rain throughout the whole of summer. It's depressing!
I wouldn't mind being sponsered! But I only have a small blog though!

  4. i'm excited to see the finished (??) product! we did a LOT of renovations to our place too (and blogged about it). we only rent, but when normal rent for a crappy place is WELL over $1000/month and our landlords said "we'll only make you pay less than half of what you're paying now and you can do whatever renovations you want" we HAD to take it!! now saving mucho dinero and loving our apartment :D

    caaaaan't wait to see yours!

  7. I want to see your house! I mean, I'd rather see it in person, but whatevs... I see how it is. I get the group-tour over the internet. harumph. :)
Why is August busy? Why is being Sherman's mom so much busier in August than the rest of the year? (Come on, now, you KNOW that's your #1 job!!)
Also. I want to sponsor your blog, but I'm pretty certain my blog name/address/etc. will be changing around the time your sponsorships are available... so I'm trying to get my mind made up on all of that.
Are you in for "Blog and Dog: 2013"? I've got Taylor plotting and planning, and I promised you and Sherm. We've just got to get one of the big-deal bloggers to get us sponsored by a dog-friendly hotel. Taylor seems to think Chicago is a great locale, and I'm game!

  10. I'd like to reiterate the comment from the other person living in England, it's depressing!! Today is the best day of weather we have had in weeks, it's warm 21c/69f and it has not yet rained, you can guarantee it will do later though. Although I do not envy your 106 heat at least you don't have to take an umbrella with you everywhere and you have a summer!!
Sorry, uk weather rant over......I am looking forward to the house tour, sounds as though it's been a huge project for you. August sounds as though it's going to be stressful, make sure you still get some you time!

  20. Ugh, August. I hate August. We have 7 days of over 100 temps this week and once August hits it'll be 30 days of the same. It makes me want to cry just thinking about it. Luckily we're escaping to southern Cali in August.

I can't wait to see these home improvement pics! Sounds like it's going to be a good one.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh I hate August too for the same reasons. My husband and I both get slammed with work during that time! Hopefully August flies by *fingers crossed*

  22. Ugh. Don't remind me that August is coming...PLEASE!!!! Worst of months in my opinion. I plan to fill it as full as possible with fun things so that it flies by at lightening speed. Fingers crossed. Looking forward to your home tour already!!!

  29. You might wanna keep watch on your dog. It seems he can open the door by himself and check out the scenery. He could be seeking out at night and roaming the streets.

  30. Can't wait to see the home posts! And of course, Sherman. Pretty sure he and my Chloe & Oliver could be bffs.

  31. Honestly, I feel like lowes and home depot suck the life right out of me. I get a few aisles in and I'm all "WE HAVE TO LEAVE, IT'S SUCKING OUT MY SOUL."

  38. Your pictures of Sherm are amazing. The one of your husband, hilarious. Your writing, funny and slightly confusing. The tease about the home tour, I am sooooo excited. The cryptic comment about you sleeping in and getting big - it sounds like you are pregnant.

  39. I just can't get over how beautiful Sherman is. His coloring is amazing. Your pictures are also soo great. Give him a scratch for me .... Sherman ... not your husband.

  43. Sleeping is the meaning of life. I mean, there's nothing I'd rather do with my short life than sleep. It is a sadden fact about me. So why am I not sleeping now, at 3:15am? UGH!

    Excited for the home tour.

  44. PS Halloween was my favorite holiday as a kid because I got to look inside other people's houses. Winner!

  46. Speaking of hot, it's been a scorcher this week. We are a little wimpy over here by the beach but it's been in the 80s and that's all we can really bare without air conditioning. Cody has been laying around and won't even come upstairs anymore. Anyway, I got him Frosty Paws (doggie ice cream). He loves it!! I highly recommend :)

Can't wait for the home tour btw. I love creeping on other people's houses and stealing their ideas ;)
