a green thumb

A few weeks ago I showed you our barnwood potting table that husband snapped together. Really, it took him about five minutes.
Such a neat table.
The only problem was I had absolutely no clue what we were going to put on it.
Husband said tools. I said food.
Thank goodness my sister-in-law is a horticulturalist.
Seriously, I married a cook an engineer and became sisters with a green thumb.
Yes, I did plan this. Very, very carefully.

So, the green thumb made our potting table (and other pots and such)
look colorful and cheery.

My nephew and I?
What did we do while his mom was busy making our patio look pretty?
We took pictures of the dogs.

Cousin labs. Hercules is nine. Sherman is one.
Herc just adores the fact that Sherm is one year old.
I'm kidding. He kind of hates it.

Kind of like I hate planting.
And cooking.
And sewing.
And ...

Just like I picked a Forest Ranger.

Ha, I cannot wait for people to think they know what I am talking about.

  9. This makes me jealous. I have a black thumb. And I'm not related to anyone who has a green one. Can I borrow her?

  16. I spent all weekend planting and kind of hated it. I love the way our house looks so I guess it is a fair trade. Now I get to spend all summer watering. It never ends.

  23. I hate cooking too! Sometimes I randomly want to make dinner but it's so random and no one is ever home/wants to eat when I decide to cook. I love baking though!

Your dogs are so cute! I love taking pictures of my cat lol. She does weird/cute things.

  30. I am still trying to talk hubs into the table... we just gotta find a place for it! I told him to put it in the middle of his beautiful yard and he I could see him cringing because it would mat down his grass..

  31. Looks beautiful! I'm terrible at planting as well. And cooking. But I love dogs and taking pictures! We must be twins :)

  33. You're funny. I like you a lot a bit. ;) My mom has much more of a green thumb than I do. Although, I do try to keep the two plants that I have alive. One is doing well. The other I still need to bring over from our old place. Along with my fish, Andy. Crap, I really need to pick him up tonight.

  34. I do not have a green thumb at all! I tried once, but I just ended up with a black, blue and red thumb. I'm too clumsy for it.

  35. First of all, I love that Sherman has dog relatives. Bronx knows my parents' dog as "Auntie Harriet". Seriously. If you say that to him he runs around the house looking for her.

And also I think you simply delegate, as do I. No, I do not do the cooking, I delegate that duty to my husband. No, I do not clean, I also delegate that duty to my husband. Nothing wrong with it.

    1. This is why we are sisters. I delegate as well.

Also, you all should see how her dog Bronx treats his Auntie Harriet. That is no way to treat family.

  37. Dear blog friend, please allow this comment to confirm that you can wear THE dress for one full day of your choosing. Because I peeked around on your blog today, I do believe THE dress will be a bit big on you as you are a skinny minnie. I will ask in return is that you let me walk your dog one day. And, for furture reference, please know that email is now enabled on my blogger profile! Hooray!

  38. That's the splendid thing about big city living. No backyard equals no reason to pretend that I have a green thumb. I can't even keep a low maintenance house plant alive.

  39. 9 year old labs are still puppies. There seems to be this common misconception that they grow out of that stage. They do not.

Is this why you email back and forth with me is because I cook, garden, and do all of those domestic things? I'm on to your game, Jones. I'm on to you. Don't worry, I still love you. I'm just on to you.

  40. So pretty Tiff. I am glad I can come here years to come and see them because if they were at my house they would already have had a funeral.

  41. As they say, it's all about who you know...or who's in the family you marry into. It's great to have talented friends and family to help us with these sorts of projects.

  42. I love your blog more and more with every post. I too know what it's like to hate planting, cooking and sewing (especially cooking though). I secretly want to learn how to sew, but I know I'd suck it at so it's not worth it. When it comes to these things, like-minded people make me very happy (and don't make me feel like I suck).
