what I wore (tiff's edition)

So I read these blogs.
These amazingly cute and adorable and fun blogs.
And these blogs have cute and adorable and fun girls posting pictures of themselves wearing cute and adorable and fun outfits.

Unfortunately, this will never be my blog.

Why?
For starters, I really don't go shopping. It's true. I'm too cheap and I get too hungry. Unless you have little bags of snacks ready for me, you cannot get me to go shopping with you. It's true. Ask my sister.

For seconds, I do not do my hair in the morning. My hair is placed in a wet ponytail {almost} every single day. It's true. Ask my co-workers. Oh and you can ask husband too. Poor husband.

For thirds, husband refuses to take my picture. So, unless Sherman starts learning how to use a Canon T2i, I think you lovely people are looking at a very bright future of posts about my dog.
It's true. Trust me.

However, I did take this awesome picture of myself last weekend because I wanted to show you the scarf that I wore for Mother's Day. It was husband's grandma's scarf. This amazing (and stubborn- like a true Jones) woman was one of the kindest, smartest and bravest women I've met in quite some time.
Not to mention, she had style. Just look at that scarf.

Thank you, Mammaw, for letting me wear your scarf.
I'll be sure to let you know if this scarf turns my blog into some world famous fashion blog.
I know, I'm laughing right now too.

  1. Oh my gosh... I honestly think your my alter eago in the other part of the world. I love. It! By the way, I sent you an email about a week ago- did you get it???

  2. Ha! My husband never takes my picture either. Even when I'm dressed up for black-tie wedding, it doesn't occur to him that it might be nice to prove that once-upon-a-time, I made an effort. The one time he took my pic recently was when I was conked out, having a rare nap on the sofa with the little one. Drool and fly-catching mouth and all. Nice.
    Scarf looks Great!

  5. Most of my pictures are of my dog too! haha! Your scarf is lovely and I bet your Mammaw would be proud to know you wear it so well!!

  6. Love the scarf! If you figure out how to get your dog to take good pictures, please send him my way to train my pup.

  7. I hate asking my hubs to snap a pic of me....say in the perfect lighting with a stunning backdrop. Yea, that never happens. AND if I do ask him...which is rare, it's with me holding a squirming baby with leftover food on my skirt. I love watching those seemingly effortless mama's do it. It gives me inspiration but I wonder how "real" it really is, you know? Good post, girl!

  9. ok, what are the chances that you made this post today and i did mine, hahaha. can we still be friends?!

and lets go shopping ... i'll make you love it! my shopping mostly consists eating frozen yogurt and food court food so it is always enjoyable ... and then with my bulging belly i go shopping. it always lets me spend less money because i look pregnant. true story.

  12. You are too funny! My husband takes my pictures and there are so many times that my hair is dirty so I just put it up in a bun on top of my head.

  13. Thank you for NOT being one of those blogs :) I'm not one, either ...I wear black everyday, it's not that exciting.

But I do wear scarves a lot. Even in the summer.

  14. That scarf is fabulous. Probably not as fabulous as the woman who lent it to you, though. This is a fashion post I like =)

  15. Love this post- I feel like my answer to any "fashion blog" related things is yours, nearly word-for-word! Maybe we should enroll Sherman and Sloan in photography classes, then we could have our own paparazzi, since the husbands aren't helpful.

  18. I will NEVER be able to do outfit posts. I feel as though if I get dressed in something other than yoga pants a picture has be taken as proof and it's usually on instagram, through a mirror, with some version of a "duck face" gracing my lips.

How special that you have that scarf!! My sisters and I always try to find ways to wear my Grandma's costume jewelry :)

  19. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this post....I don't know where these girls find the energy to do outfits of the day. Me? You're lucky if I wear the same dress pants only 3 days in a row....normally with a wrinkled blouse and uncombed hair. I'm way too lazy to shop for cute outfits to display on here!

  21. Ha! My hair would ALWAYS be wet when it was long enough to throw into a pony tail. Unfortunately, now that it's short, I must take the liberty of actually attempting to style it in order to avoid ending up job-less. I'm from a family of Jones's...I understand stubborn.

  23. I'm with you - I'm jealous of the what I wore posts and all of the adorable things those bloggers have, but I just do not have the budget for an adorable wardrobe! :(

  24. hahaha. You are too funny. Please notice that I am hardly ever IN my posts, because I would totally be breaking the bank if I had to buy everything I post about! I don't understand how some of these girls do it. More power to them, though :) I do like your scarf, though. Mammaw Jones was a stylin' lady!

  25. SAME HERE! I will do almost anything to avoid doing my hair/ changing out of yoga pants. Once and a while I will try- but, mostly never. Love that scarf! Have a great weekend! :)

  26. haha....love this! Since I started blogging I spend way more money on clothes and beauty products! I'm inspired everyday by something!!

  28. HAHA :) this post makes me laugh AND smile... which are fabulous for a Friday! the scarf is gorgeous and the sentimental value is so sweet. Happy weekend!

  29. You could just solve the problem and buy a tripod and a remote or use self timer. I have both and I have put them to non use. I got all this fancy stuff for this purpose and it's not happened yet because my ass isn't cooperating with my diet.

Also did you see where Walters Law is moving along !! Yahoo

  31. *hand just fell off.

Oh, you're wearing those necklaces I don't want.

Oh. you've got 407 blog followers, remember like last Tuesday when you had 47? Back when you were shiny and new? Now you're famous. You hate me right now, but I am not afraid of you.

Oh, you've got that shirt on still.

Oh, that scarf story is sweet.

    Oh, this comment is stupid.

"Oh, Tiff." <----------- you know what that means.

  32. I am that younger sister that needs to be lured places with snacks as well. I happen to like that quality about you and me.

    ReplyDelete
  33. ahh you mean i'm not the only one who doesnt shop regularly? Or do my hair every day? And my husband wont take pictures of me either.

oh, btw, its a cute pic!

    ReplyDelete
  34. This makews me feel better about myself.. at least I'm not the only one who doesn't do outfit posts. I guess I just don't care. Sort of like Pinterest... I pin all of these recipes, outfits, crafts, etc that I'd like to try, and I have tried exactly 2 of them. Whoops.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The scarf is so cute! Believe me no one will take my pictures either so a fashion blog probably will never kick off.

    ReplyDelete
  36. That scarf is soo pretty, and so cute that it was his grandma's! Oh and, having no one around willing to take photos is always an issue, trust me. Maybe we just need to teach Sherman and Snoopy! xo

  37. What a treasure!!! And you look fantastic wearing it :-) Yes, get Sherman to learn and then maybe he can be featured on Ellen or something.

  38. THANK YOU. I'm so glad to find another blogger who doesn't take photos of herself in various outfits. Or various photos of herself in the same outfit. I know there's a niche for that and you gotta blog what you love...but never gonna happen over at my house. But wouldn't it be fun to do a 'spoof' blog w photos of yourself in really crappy outfits?? Hmmm....an idea is a'brewin.....

  39. Gorgeous scarf! And I am totally with ya on the outfit posts. I love when other people do them and generally like what I wear each day but just can't bring myself to post outfits on my blog. BUT I love looking at the blogs that have them! So I'll just leave that to them. Hope you're feeling better! Check out my Fab Friday Beauty Tip if you get some time today! Have a great weekend.

  40. Love that scarf, yeah my closet has some amazing things in it that are never photographed either. I can't seem to become the woman that takes self portraits, not even on days I think I look cute. Not my style, :(

    I'm with you friend.

    Happy weekend!!

  42. I love fashion bloggers, but could not be one myself. First off, I don't feel like I have the fashion sense that they do. Second, I don't think anyone wants to see pictures of my in yoga pants and tanks tops. And third, I could not get Jeremy to take pictures of me either.

    Love the scarf!

  43. Just wanted you to know that I love your blog and I think you are hilarious!

  44. I love that scarf!! It's gorgeous! And I'm with you. I rarely take pictures of my outfits because I suck at making sure everything looks right and I end up taking a million pictures just to try and find a good one. It ends up being more work than fun haha!

Anywayyy have a great weekend!! :)

listen. you may not post super cute pictures of yourself. but you ARE super cute. AND super fun.

    i said so. trust me.

  47. Absolutely love this picture and it's simpleness!!! And what a great little tribute to your grandma!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. That's a beautiful picture of your neck. OH and the scarf is really cool too.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Nice scarf! It's exactly what i think. Fashion blogs are awesome and always cute but I don't think a person as lazy as i am will be able to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I get about one outfit post a week...and usually I do me hair right before hand. I don't even bother putting makeup on sometimes. =) And I only do it because I enjoy it and because it keeps me inspired with my clothing. So don't worry. There's nothing wrong with wet ponytail hair. =) Oh...aonetime other reason you aren't a fashion blogger...me too. I'm not as intense with the snack but I am way too cheap! I would run out of outfits pretty fast if I tried to be a fashion blogger! =P I thinkost women would be surprised by how few clothing items I have in my closet. But seriously, I get stuck with what I like and wear it over and over anyways! The scarf is very pretty!

  57. Haha! Cute scarf. I think it's cool you're whatever w your hair. I go days wo washing my hair!

    Xx

    ReplyDelete
  58. Haha, I laughed out loud at this because it is so true for me as well! I won't do my hair if I can get away with it, and I hate shopping. I think I missed the girly gene....I try my best but I will never be fashion forward. Your blog is great even sans gratuitous fashion posts!

    ReplyDelete
  59. i have the same reasons for not doing outfit posts too- too bad we aren't in the same town and we could take lovely pictures of our messy hair and not overly fashionable clothing!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I've been so entertained catching up on all your posts! i couldn't agree more with firsts seconds and thirds! i don't buy anything unless it is on sale and I'm terrible at the whole self pic thing, i'd much rather post pics of Charlie dog than my outfit! i love your honesty! :)
