how to do dinner with dan

First, take a sausage making class.
Then, take a grilling class.
Then, find this recipe called "Sweet Balsamic Marinade".
Make some sausages and grill slightly.
Nope, I have no clue how to make the sausages. Remember? I don't cook.
However, I do know that you have to make absolutely sure that you use the cow cutting board. If you use the chicken or the carrot, or even the fish ... husband will yell at you.
Guaranteed.
Cut sausages into bite size pieces before taking back outside to put back on the grill.
Seriously, already way too much work.
Check to make sure that lab is happy.
Check to make sure that lab has not eaten any sausages.
Check to make sure that grill is not on fire.
This was actually my job. Husband said that I will no longer be assigned jobs.
Apparently this step is very important.

Oh and you must wear a bandana on your head like Rambo here.
Remember I told you here that he cuts his hair in the front lawn on a bucket?
Yep, he wears bandanas too.
Cut up mushrooms.
Mix up marinade (no clue).
Toss mushrooms and balsamic marinade.
Mix in sausages and eat.

Dan called this an "easy dinner".
And I called him a "show off".

  1. Well it looks good, and I don't even like sausage! It might mostly be the mushrooms, but yeah that looks like a lot of work for an "easy dinner". My husband would probably say it's easy too, but my idea of easy is cereal ;)

  4. This looks delicious... if only I ate meat... (said in a Kate Hudson How to loose a guy in 10 days voice) Okay I lied. Meat is amazing.

  22. lol you always make me smile! This is why i just love your blog so much! Sherman, looked a little guilty there. You and your hubby make quite a team when it comes to cooking. Og and my hubby would never give me the job to watch the grill he would be afraid I would burn down the house lol and my dogs the sly ones would most definitely find a wat to steal a few sausages. :)

  23. Let me preface this by saying I do not eat red meat, but have attempted to learn to cook it for the boy. One night I had the idea to make italian sausage on a hoggie roll for him. Sweet right?! Well I had no idea how/how long to cook the sausage. From the outside they looked cooked. He was excited for the meal, took a big bite and... got a mouth full of RAW sausage.

Needless to say, I do not attempt to cook meat.

  41. LOL - cracking up at cutting his hair in the front yard on a bucket! my husband still drives an hour and a half to his parents house so his dad can cut his hair while he sits on a stool in the kitchen, and his dad uses a broom (like, a real broom) to sweep the hair off of my husband's shoulders. i thinkkkk our husbands should meet. hahaha. but also - good lookin' recipe!! :)

  45. ohmygreatgoodness!! the cow cutting board as opposed to the carrot/fish/chicken... hey, if it gets him to cook you an "easy" meal, i'd never use the carrot/fish/chicken cutting boards ever again.

    ReplyDelete
  46. did he really make his own sausages? that's pretty cool. maybe you really should call him rambo from here on out on the blog... think about how many new followers you'll have because they think your husband runs around with ammo all over his body and a machine gun in hand.

I've never actually seen the Rambo movies. But this is the image that comes to mind.

  47. That is impressive. He's like the King of Homemade Dinners it sounds like!

  48. Hahaha! This is so funny! I love reading your posts when you talk about how much you hate cooking and how much work it is...cause I totally feel the same way!! And there's all these blogs out there with all these girls posting about how much they loooove cooking and how they made this fabulous meal and then I feel lame cause I hate cooking...but then I read your posts and laugh and feel better that I'm not the only one! LOL!
